Following the first committee meeting of this week, I am delighted to confirm that the additional committee members from last year have all agreed to be co-opted onto the committee for 2021. We are delighted to welcome back Francis M0UKF to take the lead on training, Malcolm M0GXZ as our Membership Secretary, and Las M0BOY as technical lead. We are also delighted to welcome Brendan, G8IXK as the lead for the MKARS newsletter.
We now have a programme for the result of the year which once again is very ‘Zoom’ based given the resumption of the COVID lockdown and restrictions on face to face meetings.
On 9th November at 19.30 we have a talk by Stu, M0MMZ on ‘JOTA during Lockdown’. The talk will be on Zoom and connection details (just click on this link) are

On Monday 16th November at 19.30 we have a Zoom CW ‘teach in’ for beginners by Will G1YYU. This follows the very successful Zoom session a few weeks ago, and we hope to bring it to a wider audience. Come and brush up on your learning of the letters in the code and then Will will progress to two/three letter sequences in this session.
On 23rd November at 19.30 – We are delighted to welcome Tim Kirby GW4VXE who will be giving us a Zoom talk on ‘Further Adventures with your VHF/UHF station’. Tim’s a very accomplished speaker and will share with us his experience of DX VHF/UHF operating.
Thursday 26th November sees our MKARS Contest Group get together via Zoom. Tim, G6GEI our contesting lead, will give out the connection details shortly. Just as a reminder, the UKAC dates for November that remain are 70cm on the 10th, 6M on the 12th, 23cm on the 17th and 4m on the 19th November.
On 30th November – once again on Zoom, we have an inaugural meeting of a new MKARS interest group – homebrewing and home construction. Come and chat about projects you are building or the construction methods or the test equipment you are using.
Turning to December, on Monday 14th December we have Richard Parker, G4AWP giving us a Zoom talk on Setting Up a Remote Club Station. Richard has set up an HF station for Club users in the Cambridge area. This should be a very interesting talk.
And then its festivities! On Monday 21st December – Zoom Beer and Pizza Night/ mince pies and mulled wine night. Further details on this will be given during December.
Finally, for those that have not already done so, now is the time to pay your 2021 Membership Subs. Just a reminder that for this year only there is a reduced membership fee of £15 – a bargain!
