May 2018 Club Nights

The Club Nights for May have changed slightly from the dates previously advertised. Please note there is no meeting on Monday 7th May (as had appeared in Radcom), as this is a bank holiday.

On Monday May 14th we have the 'New Operators/technical Question Time. This is a panel put together to allow new licencees to put their questions to the panel about how best to put your station together, get on the air, and iron out the technical and operational difficulties you might have. Please have your questions ready to put to the panel at 19.30 sharp so that we organise the evening.

Martyn Baker, G0GMB, the NRC Co-ordinator, will be giving the Club a talk on Monday 21st May on how the NRC is developing, its future plans, at our Club House and then we'll make a visit to the NRC to look around, see the Demonstration Radio Station (GB3RS), which we can then operate (Please bring a copy of your license - eg an image of the front page of your licence on your phone would be acceptable).

For new members, or visitors from other clubs, wishing to attend these sessions, the meeting is at 19.30 in the Clubhouse, HMS Invincible, Bletchley Park.

A raspberry pi-powered HF radio in an ammo can go box

Topic of the day is the Raspberry Pi 3B+, and how I'm using it for amateur field communications. During May 18-21, I spent some days near the Arctic Circle, trying to answer a few important questions
