The MKARS Special Event Station GB2BP

Radio station GB2BP is a permanent special event station at Bletchley Park, maintained and operated by the Milton Keynes Amateur Radio Society. The GB2BP shack is an integral part of Bletchley Park museum - it is open for public viewing every day and fully operational at weekends.

The radio station is available for use by club members under their own call signs or (when permitted) GB2BP and our club call signs G3HIU and G8MKC.

GB2BP QSL CardGB2BP is a special event call sign and is active on HF, VHF and UHF bands using voice, morse and occasionally other modes including ATV and PSK31. The callsign can be used during museum opening hours and is normally on the air every weekend and occasionally at other times.

GB2BP is a very popular station throughout the world and a QSL card is available for those who contact us.

Saturday:
AM  at 10.15 UTC, 3.615 MHz (after the vintage net has closed)
SSB at 14.00 UTC, 3.700 MHz
(Additional bands and times are being updated).

All frequencies listed are +/- QRM and subject to being open and available. We do our very best to keep to these times and look forward to hearing from you.

Station Equipment:

The main sation HF transceiver is a Yaesu FT-950, very kindly donated by Yaesu UK and their distributors, Martin Lynch & Sons.

GB2BPThe HF antennas consist of a G5RV wire and a KT34 beam.

The main VHF/UHF transceiver is an ICOM 910H, used with various antennas.

The vintage AM station consists of a KW Vanguard transmitter and a Racal RA17 receiver, both dating from around 1960, plus a Heathkit station comprising an RA1 receiver and DX40U transmitter.

Another chalk and cheese week. 7O6T (Yemen) and 6O0CW (Somalia), (not pirates then) seemed to swap top spot all week. There was pretty fair of DX all about but these two are, to say the least, very unusual. Tony also hears from Big Dave, VK5MRD who, after several months absence from the airwaves, has just treated himself to a brand-new Icom 7410
